COUNTER surveillance

TEACHING ARTIST Workbook Overview:

"In the age of looking, documenting, archiving, witnessing, sharing, and scrolling, we are not intended to develop tools of self-reflection, but that is an artist's most reliable asset.  In an effort to deeply construct the curriculum for COUNTER SURVEILLANCE, conceptual artist Kenya (Robinson) is composing a workbook for Teaching Artists to guide dynamic relationships with students.

Here, the processes are the outcomes, as students will be tasked with providing creative materials for Teaching Artists via screen capture videos, on-demand printing venues, TikTok compilations, recaps of streaming programming, sharing email/printed POS receipts, and a collection of other mundane internetings. In turn, Teaching Artists will use these materials to develop a body of work for exhibition, cycling through the curriculum-based themes of Identity, Currency, and Strategy.

Surveillance is reliant upon folks submitting to a cursory view.  COUNTER SURVEILLANCE is a  closer look at ourselves and our actions. It is the identification possibilities for resource creation and the frequency of currency, all while building personal strategies from empowered knowledge."
